Missing a Loved One?

During the pandemic it’s hard for everyone, especially if you have lost a loved one. Family get togethers have had to take place over the internet.

If you’re missing someone who has passed away you could arrange your family get-together like a birthday or anniversary online, you could each set a place for them on your own homes. Pour a drink for them and tell stories about them.

The good news is that restrictions are lifting somewhat although social distancing measures are in place. This means you can at least meet face to face providing the 2 meter rule is observed. You could choose to meet in your loved one’s favourite place such as a park or favourite place in the countryside. Take your own picnics and set them up with a place set in the middle for your loved one and light a candle or some incense. You could each bring along some flowers too.

You can share your stories about them, maybe read some poems and you could even play some music and have a dance. You could have a small fire in a brazier, each write a letter to your loved one and take it in turns to step up to the fire to burn it while saying a prayer our loud or quietly to yourself.

 PS.

Make sure to take home candles and incense and never leave a fire unattended, especially out in the countryside. If you decide to leave an offering at the spot make sure that it is biodegradable and wildlife friendly. Never ever leaving anything burning such as candles or incense.
